Looking Forward

On my walk

Now that there is real talk about reopening NYC in phases, beyond the uncertainties about safety, the economy and business my thoughts are going to another aspect of the picture.

For the past three months many of us who have not been working, have been spending our newfound free time on all sorts of projects in our homes, self-care, cooking, enjoying the parks and spending precious time with family. When our city restarts, what is it going to feel like to re-enter the workforce. The long work hours, the stresses, less time with our families and our once again limited free time.

There is a duality to this of course. I am grateful that I will have the opportunity to work. I don't want us to lose one more person to this horrific virus. I hope that our healthcare workers can go back to a profession that is no longer a war zone. I want our essential workers to feel safe at work again.

And there is a lot to look forward to. For me, being able to hug a friend, to socialize, go to a restaurant and visit a museum or shopping (not necessarily in that order). But this doesn't take away from the fact that I and I have a feeling many others, are going to miss ‘aspects’ of this period of time.  I think I'm going to make it my goal to try to incorporate some of my new found joys into my future life. In the meantime let me share some things that have made me feel happy or inspired recently:

-This piece about time is absolutely brilliant.

-I cannot stop watching this guy. The post about our clothes in the closet (second one on the link) is hysterical.

-I'm definitely going to his restaurant  when it opens.

-This is soooo not happening in a NYC apartment, but when I have my country house in France.

-I love seeing art in unexpected places and these tea bags should definitely be kept away from hot water.

-I have decided that for the foreseeable future I’m embracing my boho persona (loose clothes in great fabrics until... ahem..you know when) So there is no better time to accessorize with ‘all forgiving’ jewelry. My next piece on my wish list is the stunning  Lorina Balteanu Maya Cuff.  I love how light and airy it is and yet makes a statement. I will accessorize it with the Marisa Mason Sonora ring in silver.

-Speaking of loose clothes I have ordered these running sneakers because my friend Jennifer, who is an avid runner, has them. And I’m certain the first time I will put them on I’ll magically float around the Central Park bridle path.

So for now enjoy your sweats and free time if you have it and most importantly, stay safe.

Love,

Ruth
